Charles Clayton “C.C.” Prater, 37, of Flemingsburg, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Born in Mason County on March 5, 1986, he was the son of Caren Dawn Curotto Prater and the late Lowell Clayton Prater.
C.C. was very proud of his Italian heritage as his great grandparents were born in Italy. He worked in food service, factory work, farm hand and various odd jobs. He showed a compassionate side to anyone in need. May his many acts of kindness be remembered fondly.
He is survived by his mother Caren; his sister, Shae Lamar Prater; his paternal grandfather, Ernest Gerald Prater; his aunt, Carolyn Jean Prater (Kenny Boling); his uncle, Rodney Dale Prater; his great aunt, Sandy Prater Kimbler; his cousins; John Stevenson “Steven” Howe, Jennie Lee Howe (Jason) Applegate, Lauren Day Applegate, Haylee Nicole Applegate, John Scott Applegate; other cousins, extended family members and friends; his beloved dog, Mosh; and his other housemates, Sadie and M.J.
In addition to his father Lowell, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Lee Lamar Prater; his maternal grandfather, Charles Anthony Curotto; and his maternal grandmother, Jennie Lou Royse Curotto.
Service for C.C. will begin at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with Pastor Robbie Shrout officiating.
C.C. will be laid to rest in Martin Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Adam Ray, Steven Howe, Larry Caudill, Malcolm Cassidy, Jason Applegate, and Rodney Prater.
Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the church.
