Carol Jane Howell, 87, of Winchester, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Fountain Circle Health and Rehabilitation in Winchester. She was the widow of Ray Howell.
Born in Lewis County on September 13, 1936, her parents were the late Adrian Hord and the late Pauline Applegate Hord.
Carol retired from Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Indiana after 25 years of working as a radiology technician. She had been a member of the Greensboro Church of the Nazarene since 1972. In February 1956 she married Ray and together they enjoyed trail riding all over the country with their friends and fellow horsemen.
She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Kirkland of Mount Sterling; her sister-in-law, Geraldine Porter; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her husband Ray who passed in October 2018 and her parents Pauline and Adrian, Carol was preceded in death by five of her siblings, Edwin Hord, John Hord, Erma Hook, Merle Hord, and Gayle Hord.
The funeral service will begin at 12 noon, Friday, April 19, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Arnold Howell officiating.
Carol will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Plumville.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 12 noon, Friday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street, Flemingsburg, Ky. 41041.
