Courtney Leroy Lewis, 88, of Maysville, Ky., passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Mount Carmel, Ky. on April 15, 1933, he was one of six children to the late John and Helen Henry Lewis.
A master electrician, he retired after 25 years of service as the director of physical facilities for the Mease Hospital in Dunedin, Fla. In his spare time Courtney was an avid golfer who had the honor of making two holes in one during his playing days.
Courtney is survived by his wife of 53 years, Henrietta Varvell Lewis; his two sons, Leslie Lewis of Flemingsburg and Butch (Sally) Florence of West Union, Oh.; his granddaughter, Rayshel (Jarrod) Elliott of Augusta, Ky.; his great-granddaughter, Claire Elliott; his honorary daughter- in- law, Julie Florence; his sister, Marilyn (Doug) Swim of Mt. Carmel; his brother- in-law, J.D. (Rosemary) Varvell of Aberdeen, Oh.; special friend, DCI Nurse Amanda Lewis; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four of his siblings, Charles Ray Lewis, Frances Wardlow, Elis Lewis, and Paul Lewis; along with two sisters-in-law, Pearl Walker and Ruby Webster.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Cropper officiating.
Courtney will be laid to rest in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Leslie Lewis, Butch Florence, Jarrod Elliott, John Robert Swim, Jarrod Utterback, and Anthony Utterback. Honorary pallbearers include J. D. Varvell.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Sunday, at Boone-Nickell.
