James Daniel “Danny” Peratt, 65, of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Saint Joseph East in Lexington.
Born in Fort Monroe, Va. on March 25, 1958, he was the son of the late James Monroe “Buddy” Peratt and the late Mary Mildred McCarty Peratt.
Danny had worked in construction and was a farmer whose heart was always on the farm. He loved being outdoors working in the gardens filled with strawberries and tomatoes and the different types of flowers and plants he had around the house. An inquisitive person, he wanted to know the details on things; but a giving person who would give someone the shirt off his back if they were in need. He had a great love for the many animals he had and would make sure they all ate before he did. He loved blue Ford tractors and even incorporated the color blue to his buildings.
Danny is survived by his sister, Phyllis Ritchie and husband, Tim; his niece, Megan Mays and husband, Eric; his aunt, Jewell McCarty of Carlisle; along with his extended family and friends.
In addition to his mom and dad, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Peratt; and his wife, Colleen Vance Peratt.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Tilton Christian Church where he attended, with Rev. Jim Wilson and Bro. Dave Gray officiating.
Danny will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jack Landsaw, Bobby Leach, Eric Mays, Ricky Riley, Al Ruark, Kent Stanfield, and Billy Story. Honorary pallbearers include Mike Johnson, Rodney Ruark, Ronnie Reeder, Carolyn Scott, Tamara Belcher, Clell Vice, Gilby Crawford, and Lance Emmons.
