Obituary

Gary Wesley “Goose” Rice, 72, of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. 

Born in Fleming County on March 11, 1949, he was a son of the late John Harvey Rice and the late Virginia Foster Rice.

Goose was a member of the Strawberry United Methodist Church.  He had worked at Ben Franklin, the slaughter house and mowed yards in Flemingsburg.

He is survived by his brothers, Leonard Lee Rice, John Kenneth Rice; his sister, Connie Rice; special sisters-in-law, Debbie and Rosezetta; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Edward “Hard Rock” Rice.

Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.

He will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.

Pallbearers include LaRon Botkins, John Kenneth Rice II, Tyler Rice, Mandela Rice, Leonard Rice, Jr., and Charles Harvey Rice.  Honorary pallbearers include Javier Sanchez, Tyron Rice, Braylen Slater, Virginia Rice, Cataleya Sanchez, Alyssia Botkins, Mya Botkins, Destiny Conn, Morgan Conn, and Jaleeah Slater.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at Boone-Nickell.

Due to the increase of COVID, all in attendance are asked to wear face masks.
