Helen Conley

Helen Conley, 101, of Muses Mill, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, at Pioneer Trace Nursing.  She was the widow of Brack Conley.

Born in Fleming County on October 6, 1921, her parents were the late Melvin Gardner and the late Addie Caskey Gardner.

Helen was a homemaker and a farming wife.   She loved cooking big meals to feed her family, friends, church family, and farm hands.  She was famous for her fried apple pies which led to a special moment when she appeared on Tim Farmer’s Country Kitchen.   She was a member of the Muses Mills Christian Church for over 75 years where she played the piano and taught Sunday school.  

Helen is survived by two of her children, Evan Conley and wife Judy, Ronnie Conley and wife Cathy; her son–in-law, Robert Gulley; her 10 grandchildren; her 17 great grandchildren; and her six great, great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Sadie Jewell Rice.

In addition to Brack, her husband of 77 years, as well as her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Brack Eugene “Gene” Conley; her daughter, Lois Ann Gulley; and four of her sisters, Mary Gertrude Hedges, Hazel Jackson, Wanda Joyce Faris, and Nellie Ruth Conley.  

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Muses Mills Christian Church with Bro. Ronnie Conley and Bro. Doug Reeves officiating.

Visitation will begin at 11a.m., Friday, at the church.

Helen will be laid to rest in Muses Mills Cemetery.
