Homer Soister, Jr., 87, of Wallingford, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, at UK Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Maysville, Ky. on February 28, 1935, he was the son of the late Homer Soister, Sr., and the late Estella Brooks Soister.
Homer was a truck driver for Brewer Trucking and was a farmer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Smitson Soister; his three children, Ernie Soister and wife Felicia, Mike Soister and wife Paula, Estella Logan and husband Willard; his nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Aires; and several siblings.
The funeral service will begin at noon, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Shawn Meade officiating.
Homer will be laid to rest in Maysville Cemetery.
W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.
Pallbearers include Ernie Soister, Mike Soister, Christian Soister, Willard Logan, Kyle Soister, and Jamie Soister. Honorary pallbearers include Verdel Meade, Shawn Soister, and Eric Soister.
Visitation will be open to the public starting at 11 a.m., until the hour of service at noon, Tuesday, at Boone-Nickell.
