John Kenney Obituary

John Richard Kenney, 65, of Fayette County, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in Lexington, Ky.

Born in Maysville, Ky. on June 14, 1956, John was a son to the late Joe Donald Kenney and the late Juanita Frances Griffin Kenney.  

His family moved to Camden, Del. where John grew up playing baseball and graduated in 1974 from Caesar Rodney High School.  Growing up he spent summers visiting his paternal grandparents, Joe and Betty Kenney, and his maternal grandparents, Roy and Opal Griffin, who all lived on the same street, Garr Avenue in Flemingsburg, Ky.  After graduation, John moved to Lexington, Ky. where he was employed with Parsons Electric for 44 years. John enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time at Keeneland.   He was also a huge UK fan and a photography enthusiast.

John is survived by his son, Michael Sean Kenney; his two grandchildren, Aiden and Tyler; special friend, Debi Pattie; and his previous wife, Cindy Kenney.   He is also survived by his three siblings, James Donald Kenney of Lexington, Ky., Joni Carol Warren and husband Charles of Lebanon, Ohio., and Joe David Kenney and wife Robin of Morehead, Ky.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg, Ky. 

John will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Sunday, at Boone-Nickell.
