Kathy Ann Helphenstine, 66, of Tollesboro, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at her residence.
Born in Mason County on August 19, 1956, her father was the late Joseph Clifton Berry and her mother was the late Mary Louise White Berry.
Kathy worked at the Dairy Queen for 14 years. She was the most kind, gentle, and loving soul. She showed that through doing what she loved more than anything, and that was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Caring for others was such a big part of her life. She touched so many hearts throughout her years. She loved to cook for her family and always had a story ready to tell. Kathy enjoyed going for long car rides on back country roads looking at all the scenery, and was always so happy to see hummingbirds fly around the flowers in her front yard.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Danny Lee Helphenstine; her son, Brian Helphenstine and his wife, Bridgett; her daughter-in-law, Julie Wills Helphenstine; her five grandchildren, Bryson Dean Helphenstine, Ethan Lee Helphenstine, Tierra Tully, Mikayla Cox, and Mikina Cox.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Dale “Chris” Helphenstine; her five siblings, Joseph Allen Berry, Johnny Berry, Tommy Berry, Mary Rigdon, and Janet Barnett; and her nephew, Robert Berry.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2023, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Hunt officiating.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Monday, at Boone-Nickell.
