Lena Mabel McGlone, 87, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at UK Medical Center in Lexington. She was the widow of Charles Lee David McGlone.
She was born in Fleming County on May 26, 1932, to the late Garr Russell Hickerson and Ada Laura Gardner Hickerson.
Lena was an expert seamstress and quilter. She loved flowers and gardening. Her greatest love was her family; especially her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Mamaw”.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony McGlone and wife Joan, David McGlone and wife Melinda; her grandchildren, Brian (Ann Caudill) McGlone, Tony (Pam) McGlone, Travis (Jessica) McGlone, Darrin (Sarah) McGlone, Whitney (Rick) Wilson, and Cody (Kaitlyn) Shannon. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Brianna (Josh) Hitch, Andrea, Madison, Maggie, T.J., Makenzie, Adalynn, and Karlee McGlone, Reese and Major Wilson, and Emmett Shannon; as well as her sister, Janet (Kim) Brewer.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, and her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred Leslie Hickerson and Roy Brooks Hickerson; and her sisters, Mary Ruth Harper and Hannah Iolene Hamm.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 6, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Conley officiating.
Lena will be laid to rest in the Fleming County Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
