Richard E. “Dickie” Welsh, 67, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Maysville on May 25 1955, he was the son of the late James Joseph Welsh and the late Mathilda Rose Weber Welsh.
Dickie had worked for the last 43 years for Southern States in Maysville and Flemingsburg. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the DeKalb Lodge in Maysville. He was an avid John Deere collector and University of Kentucky Fan.
Dickie is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra Carpenter Welsh; his four children, Travis Welsh and wife Lindsay, Traci Welch and husband Daniel, Cory Cropper and wife Angelica, and Blake Cropper; his five grandchildren, Jack Welsh, Ava Welsh, Harper Flannery, Lincoln Cropper, and Walker Cropper; his two sisters, Patricia Welsh, Annette Conkle and husband Chuck; his special sister-in-law, Helen Kern; and his father and mother-in-law, Donnie and Brenda Carpenter; along with many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents Dickie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donnie Welsh and James “Squeaky” Welsh; and special uncle, James Weber.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Mark Henderson and Daryl Grannis officiating.
Dickie will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
Mike Jones, Steve Buchanan, Fred Adamson, Andrew Fryman, Billy Dryden and Justin Farrow will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
