Sammie Fizer Obituary

Sammie E. Fizer, 76, of Flemingsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Meadowview Regional Hospital with his beloved wife by his side.

Sammie was born on July 12, 1944 in Fleming County to Ray and Bessie Fizer.  He enjoyed farming with his father and working in the shop with his father and brother.  During his life Sammie served in various capacities, including deputy sheriff in Fleming County, a volunteer with the Mt. As a hobby, Sammie enjoyed working with his many and various tools as a skilled craftsman in the areas of rebuilding machinery and home improvement.  On many Saturday evenings, Sammie could be found at Kevin Boling’s Auction House with his good friend Jim Wilson.

Sammie considered his loving grandson, Tyler, as one of his great blessings.  His years of mentoring and spending time with Tyler gave Sammie much happiness.

Sammie was preceded in death by his father and mother; siblings Roy Fizer and Lois Taylor; his first wife, Sharon Fizer; and his daughter, Stephanie Grimes.  He leaves behind his wife, Marita; his children Mike (Melissa) Ford, Charles (Deanna) Ford, and Natalie (Mark) Leet.  His eight grandchildren include Dalton Leet, Tyler (Alicia) Grimes, Ryan Ford, Olivia (Coty) Johnson, Makayla Ford, Chase Ford, Andrew Ford, Chloe Leet, and Emily Paisley.  Sammie leaves two great-grandchildren, Owen Matthew and Rayleigh Ann Grimes.
