Shirley Mae Purcell, 84, of May’s Lick, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the widow of Nathan J. Purcell who passed away on February 2, 2012.
Born in Mason County on February 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Perry Kidder and the late Rosa Lee Miller Kidder.
Shirley and her husband Nathan worked on farms for many years. She later car-hopped at Frisch’s in Aberdeen, Oh. Before her sickness, she worked for Special Touch (a cleaning service) and she cleaned for Browning’s for about seven years. She retired to take care of her mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Emmons and Dale of Ewing; her grandson, Michael Emmons, her three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Austin, and Madison Emmons; and her great-great-grandchild, Ryder Emmons. She is also survived by her two sisters, Elizabeth Golob and Jim of Greenfield, Ind., and Emma Jean Gallagher of Pendleton, Ind.; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Grimes officiating.
Shirley will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Dale Emmons, Michael Emmons, Austin Emmons, and Sydney Emmons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday night, at Boone-Nickell.
