Wayne E. Tyree, 80, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at Saint Claire Regional Medical Center. He was the widower of Marilyn Whisman Tyree.
Born in Elliott County on June 19, 1942, he was the son of the late William Luke Tyree and the late Margaret Katherine Whitt Tyree.
Wayne was a farmer, a carpenter, and a night watchman at Circle O Farm in Paris, Ky. He loved talking to people and storytelling, as well as playing Euchre, going fishing, loafing at the store, and taking naps. He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.
He is survived by his five children, Tammy (Greg) Hughes of Ewing, Donna (Timmy) Mitchell of Sharpsburg, Karla Plummer of Flemingsburg, Jennifer (Steve) Buchanan of Ewing, and Jeff (Alisa) Tyree of Ewing; his 11 grandchildren; and his 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth (Larry) Schumacher of Goddard; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to Marilyn, his wife of 55 years, and his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Patricia Tyree; and seven of his siblings, Bessie Harris, Mabel LeClaire, Clayton Tyree, Violet Mitchell, Clifford Tyree, Bernard Tyree, and Lorene Sagraves.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home.
Wayne will be laid to rest in Sunnyside Cemetery on Mount Tabor Road in Ewing.
Pallbearers include Zachary Plummer, Jeremy Hughes, Jonathan Hughes, Quinton Tyree, Steve Buchanan, Randy Sluss, and Patrick Preston. Honorary Pallbearers include Ronnie Black, Larry Schumacher, Mike Sagraves, Bill Sluss, Frankie Miller, Bill Leet, and Wayne’s grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Boone-Nickell.
