William Junior Stone, 93, of Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home. He was the recent widower of Wanda Ellen Kegley Stone.
Born in Carlisle on June 22, 1929, his parents were the late Alvin Stone and the late Mayme George Stone.
William was a painter by trade and was retired from Maysville Community College and also the University of Kentucky. He was an active member of his church, Family Worship Center. He proudly served his county in the United States Army, serving during the Korean conflict.
William is survived by his five children, Linda Combs, Kathy Bell, Donna Lindsey and husband Tim, William R. Stone and wife Pam, Amanda Reid and husband Tommy; his eight grandchildren, Tamara Gray, Tina Line, Tanessa Randall, Michele Emmons, Matthew McClanahan, Timothy Lindsey, Roman Nickerson, Seth Fogleman; and his 27 great grandchildren.
In addition to Wanda, his wife of 67 years and his parents Alvin and Mayme, William was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Shane Ward; his infant daughter, Diana Christine Stone; and his two brothers, Everett Stone and Robert Lee “R.L.” Stone.
The funeral service will begin at 12 noon, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. David Hickerson and Bro. Danny Howard officiating.
William will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 will be performing military rites.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at noon, Tuesday, at Boone-Nickell.
